Submitting Samples
Compost and soil samples- $90 per sample
Includes full count of Bacteria, Fungi, Protozoa (amoebae, flagellates, ciliates) , Actinomycetes, Eumycetes, and all types of Nematodes (bacterial-feeding, fungal-feeding, omnivorous, predatory, root-feeding). As well as feedback and suggestions (if possible). Photos and videos may also be included, microbes don’t always want to cooperate to have their photo taken.
A 15-minute phone call is also included, to describe soil food web info, and results/feedback of the analysis only.
*If clients have other questions regarding what to do with their product, I offer consultation by phone or web conferencing.
If you are wanting analysis of a liquid (compost extract or tea) please email to set up shipping and receiving in order to deal with their delicate nature. For all other samples, see below.
Collect compost or soil. An apple corer works well for soil samples. Only the top 4-5 inches are needed. Collect from the drip zone of plants if vegetation is present. If taking a sample from a large bin or plot be sure to collect small amounts from various random places, mix them together in a bucket, and pull out a small amount from that to send for sampling.
Fill a sandwich-sized ziplock bag with two cups of the sample material.

Please email me at troy@livingrootscomposttea.com to inform me to expect a sample by mail. Include in the email what type of sample (soil or compost) and desired crop/s you wish to grow if applicable. If sending a compost sample please list feedstocks and ratios.
